ASUS unveiled its Tegra 3-powered Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet a few weeks ago and now it is available for pre-order at some North American retailers already. There’s a lot to be excited about with this keyboard-dockable tablet hybrid.

It runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb, which is upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich and packs in a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera. It boasts high performance and low power consumption, which is really going to be the key driving force to how many sales this device makes. It has to deliver on battery life.

It comes in your choice of amethyst gray or champagne gold with 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. Other specs include a mini-HDMI port, a USB 2.0 port, and an SD card reader. This 10.1-inch hybrid weighs just 1.3 pounds and is only 0.33″ thin.

This is not an ad. On SciTechDaily we will be expanding our coverage from science news to also include more mainstream technology news. This means there will be news about the latest computers and electronic gadgets. If you only want the Science news, just use the tab on top to stick with the Science News.

At this point the only paid advertising on SciTechDaily is the rectangular ad on the left side below the subscription box.
