Browsing: Bornean Orangutans

Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) are one of the three species of great apes native to Southeast Asia and are exclusively found on the island of Borneo. Known for their striking reddish-brown fur and highly intelligent behavior, these arboreal primates spend most of their lives in trees, relying on their long arms and gripping hands for climbing and swinging through the forest canopy. They are critically endangered due to deforestation, habitat loss from palm oil plantations, and illegal hunting. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect the species and preserve the rich biodiversity of Borneo’s tropical rainforests.
