Browsing: The Illustris Project

The Illustris Project is a series of large-scale simulations of galaxy formation and evolution, conducted to improve our understanding of how galaxies form and evolve within the vast and complex cosmic web of dark matter and cosmic gas. Launched by an international collaboration of scientists, the project utilizes advanced computational models to simulate the physical processes that drive the formation of galaxies across different cosmic epochs. The simulations encompass the effects of gravity, hydrodynamics, cooling of gas, stellar evolution, and black hole growth, among other phenomena.
