The International Space Station (ISS) is a multinational research laboratory orbiting Earth approximately every 90 minutes. Launched in 1998, it represents a collaboration among NASA, Roscosmos, ESA, JAXA, and CSA, serving as a hub for scientific experiments across disciplines like biology, physics, materials science, and Earth observation. Continuously inhabited since 2000, the ISS enables researchers to study the effects of microgravity, test new technologies, and prepare for future deep-space missions. As both a symbol of international cooperation and a frontier for space-based science, the ISS plays a vital role in expanding human knowledge beyond our planet.
