Texas A&M University, often referred to as Texas A&M or TAMU, is a premier public research university located in College Station, Texas. Established in 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, it was the state’s first public institution of higher education. Texas A&M is a member of the Texas A&M University System, and its student body is one of the largest in the United States. Its students, known as Aggies, are deeply engaged in tradition and school spirit, most famously embodying this through the “12th Man” tradition at football games.
