The universe encompasses all of space and time, including all forms of matter, energy, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The universe began approximately 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang, which marked the expansion from a singular state of extremely high temperature and density. This expansion continues today, as galaxies move away from each other, indicating that the universe is not static but dynamic and ever-changing. Modern cosmology studies the universe’s origin, structure, evolution, and eventual fate through observations and theoretical physics, utilizing concepts like dark matter, dark energy, and the theory of general relativity to explain phenomena that are otherwise inexplicable, such as the universe’s accelerating expansion.
