Browsing: Gorillas

Gorillas are large, ground-dwelling primates native to the forests of central and western Africa. As the largest species of primate, gorillas are divided into two main species: the eastern gorilla (Gorilla beringei) and the western gorilla (Gorilla gorilla), with several subspecies. They are primarily herbivores, feeding on fruits, leaves, and stems, and live in social groups led by a dominant male known as a silverback. Gorillas share around 98% of their DNA with humans, making them one of our closest evolutionary relatives. These intelligent and social animals are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and disease, though conservation efforts are helping to protect their populations.
