Titan is Saturn’s largest moon and one of the most intriguing bodies in the solar system, known for its dense atmosphere and Earth-like surface processes. It is the only moon with a thick nitrogen-rich atmosphere and stable liquids—primarily methane and ethane—on its surface, forming lakes, rivers, and possibly even a subsurface ocean of water beneath its icy crust. Titan’s complex chemistry and climate cycles, driven by interactions between sunlight, atmospheric haze, and hydrocarbon precipitation, make it a prime target for astrobiology and planetary science. NASA’s upcoming Dragonfly mission aims to explore Titan’s surface and assess its potential for hosting—or once having hosted—life.
