The Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) is a space observatory developed by NASA in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, dedicated to measuring the polarization of X-rays coming from cosmic sources such as black holes, neutron stars, and supernova remnants. Launched in December 2021, IXPE is equipped with three identical telescopes that have detectors capable of not only capturing X-rays but also determining the direction and degree of polarization of these rays.
