Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected black-legged ticks, commonly known as deer ticks. The disease is primarily characterized by its initial symptom, a distinctive “bull’s-eye” rash, accompanied by fever, headache, fatigue, and joint pain.
