The University of Missouri, also known as Mizzou, is a public research university located in Columbia, Missouri. Founded in 1839, it was the first public university west of the Mississippi River and is the flagship campus of the University of Missouri System. The university operates the world’s first journalism school, established in 1908, which remains a top institution for media studies.
