Voyager News

The Voyager spacecraft refer to two robotic probes, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched by NASA in 1977 to study the outer Solar System and the interstellar medium. Both spacecrafts are equipped with instruments capable of capturing detailed images and data about planets and moons they encounter, with missions originally focused on Jupiter and Saturn. Voyager 2 went on to explore Uranus and Neptune as well. Remarkably, both Voyagers have extended their mission well beyond their expected service lives and primary objectives, transitioning into the Voyager Interstellar Mission. As of now, Voyager 1 is the most distant human-made object from Earth, having entered interstellar space in 2012, followed by Voyager 2 in 2018. These spacecraft continue to transmit valuable scientific data about cosmic rays and the outer boundaries of the Sun’s influence, providing unprecedented insights into our solar neighborhood and beyond.
