Venus is the second planet from the Sun and often called Earth’s “sister planet” due to its similar size and composition, though its environment is dramatically different. Shrouded in thick clouds of sulfuric acid and enveloped by a dense carbon dioxide atmosphere, Venus experiences a runaway greenhouse effect that makes it the hottest planet in the solar system, with surface temperatures high enough to melt lead.
