CubeSat News

CubeSats are miniature satellites that have standardized dimensions of multiples of 10×10×10 centimeters, known as “U” units, and typically weigh no more than 1.33 kilograms per unit. They are widely used in space research for their low cost and the ease with which they can be deployed. Originally developed in 1999 by California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and Stanford University for educational purposes, CubeSats have become popular in the space industry, enabling academic, private, and government projects to gain access to space at a reduced cost. These small satellites are used for a variety of tasks such as Earth observation, scientific experimentation, and new technology demonstration. CubeSats are usually deployed into orbit from launch vehicles or the International Space Station (ISS) using a specialized deployment mechanism.
