Vision is the ability to interpret the environment through the detection of light by the eyes. This complex process involves multiple components including the cornea, pupil, lens, retina, and optic nerve. Light enters the eye through the cornea, passes through the pupil, and is focused by the lens onto the retina—a layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye. These cells, primarily rods and cones, convert light into electrical signals which are then transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve. The brain processes these signals, allowing us to perceive shapes, colors, and movements.
